Review: No Omega- Metropolis

This was my first listen to the Swedish band No Omega but I was pleasantly surprised. Their release “Metropolis” blends poetic lyricism with dissonant melodies followed by moments of clarity through the usage of melodic passages. It is this blend of hardcore influenced riffs and softer melodies that give this album an emotional tie to the listener and leaves them begging for more.

The song “Breathe” stands out from the rest. It begins with a haunting melody played on guitar followed by the distant screams that echo in the back of your mind. The rest of the song manages to shape the opening guitar riff into something more complex and passionate. As is the case with the rest of the album, “Breathe” leaves you with a sense of hopelessness and despair immersing you in to the minds of No Omega.

If you like melodic hardcore even the slightest bit you need to check out this band and buy this album. I see big things coming from these Swedes in the near future.
